A heartwarming book that encourages conversation. The open ended questions offer opportunity for questions, answers, and bonding of young and not-so-young. Having a journal to record the thoughts of grandchildren will be a treasure to hold special memories. Excellent book.

Great tool for connecting across the miles

5 Star Review from a traveling Grandma here… I am smiling at the possibilities I see with Between Visits journal. My six grandchildren have always enjoyed sitting at the table with me to answer questions about ‘Would You Rather?’ or guess the favorite animal via ‘Twenty Questions”.

While those times are wonderful for making memories this Between Visits book will allow me to grow into topics that can have more eternal meaning. I see these prompts as a means of picking through the layers of our faith together. I think the ‘Favorite Things’ section would be especially useful for those of mine who are big on really digging deeper in their own hearts and thoughts.

This book is laid out with two pages for each question giving us space for six responses. Usually we re given two-part question of what would a certain activity be like and how could they include a Bible verse or God in this activity.

examples:

Who are your closest friends right now? How do you show kindness to them as Jesus teaches us?

What’s something you’re working on that you’re proud of? How can you ask God for strength in it?

and this one just might be my favorite:

Is there anything you’d like to talk about or pray over together?

With each of my grandchildren being at a different stage – with bath their ability to communicate and with the depth with which they entertain a question – I see different ways to offer these questions. While I dearly love video chat time, I see that phone calls as well as texts will be able to help grow these areas.

With this journal I feel more equipped to weave God into the small moments we get to spend together. I am glad for the space provided that we can look back and see growth over time.

I received a complimentary copy of this journal from the author. Opinions shared in this review are my own

Good Book to Communicate with Grandchildren
by Janis Cox
As with any family, getting kids to talk isn’t easy. It’s even a harder job for grandparents. This journal gives grandparents an opportunity to chat in written form (and of course they can expand later) with good question prompts from the author.
