Holy Land Journey
We were allowed to sleep in on Saturday because it was Shabbat. After breakfast, we took a short ride to our first stop – Tel Dan. This was an incredible archeological site that showed the gateway, walls, and temple area back to the times of 3,000 years ago!

At this same place, we saw a dig that showed the first archway ever built — probably from the time of Abraham.

We then took another short ride to Caesarea Philippi. It was here that Jesus revealed to His disciples Who He was. “On this rock, my church will be built.” Incredible to see the rock that Jesus was referring to literally.

We ended the day tour at Golan Heights. We could view Israel and the border of Syria.

Highlights
At Tel Dan, the national park and archeological site, the water was so clean and fresh that we could drink from the pool that feeds into the Jordan River.

We lunched at a little restaurant situated at the top of an old volcano. The volcano was full of water and looked like a little lake.

Wonderful photos and memories, Kim! We were signed up to go on a trip to Israel in May this year, but not enough people registered so the tour was cancelled (perhaps the unrest in Israel early in the planning gave people cold feet). I’m still hoping to get there someday.
Oh, how disappointing Violet! Although there was unrest in surrounding countries, we had no problem in Israel itself. I felt very safe throughout the trip.

Yes we missed going on a trip a little over a year ago. Circumstances weren’t right. But it is on our list of places to go – high on the list.
