On Saturday of the conference, I awoke at 6:00 a.m. and felt like I couldn’t sleep anymore. Unusual for me because I like to sleep as long as possible.

That morning, I set my alarm for 7:45 a.m. to get up last minute for a quick shower before breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

Instead of lying in bed, enjoying the comfort and quietness, I arose, had a hot shower and prepared for my day. Ready and out the door by 6:45 a.m., I texted my husband to tell him of this anomaly. I knew he would be as shocked as I was with this news.

I strolled the grounds outside and took in the morning sights and sounds – a luxury I’d never enjoyed in my 10 years of attendance at this conference.

At 6:55 a.m. I remembered that the prayer meeting would start at 7:00 a.m. I looked up the location and started over to the room. Being the first to arrive, I left my book bag and waited outside for the others to arrive. I ascended the stairs, opened the door and recognized my friend, Jan, approaching.

She did a double-take and stumbled backwards, “Whoa!”

I gave her a big hug. “Morning, my friend.”

“You are not going to believe the prayer I just said,” she stammered.

“Tell me.”

“Walking along the path, I spotted your cabin in the distance and prayed, ‘Lord, Kimberley has been coming to the conference for a decade. It would be so nice if she would get up early and attend the prayer morning time with me just this once.’ The door to the chapel opened and you stepped out to greet me.”

Now I did the double-take. Wow! God truly does answer prayer.
