What Qualifies You to Witness for Christ?

My friends had travelled over 3 hours to spend the weekend with us. We swam in our pool, cooked hamburgers on the barbeque, and laughed together while we played card games late into the evening.

Outwardly, it didn’t seem very different than any other time we got together. But inwardly I was significantly different. I had recently been “born again” and accepted Jesus not only as my Saviour but as the Lord of my life as well.

My attitudes and behaviours were slowly changing. I didn’t use foul language as much as I had and I no longer partied and got drunk. But I didn’t think that the change in my life was significant enough to witness about my faith in Christ. I felt ashamed that I wasn’t spectacularly different.

However, while reading the book of Revelation in the Life Application Study Bible I was convicted of the comment in the notes that stated, “Many hesitate to witness about their faith in Christ because they don’t feel the change in their lives has been spectacular enough. But you qualify as a witness for Jesus because of what he has done for you, not because of what you have done for him.”

“Many hesitate to witness about their faith in Christ because they don’t feel the change in their lives has been spectacular enough.” (tweet this)

I can share my faith with a focus on what Jesus has done for me. I can point to Him and keep the focus on where it should be — on Him, not me.

Have you shared your faith with others?
