For many years I have read the Bible from beginning to end, using a variety of aids. I started with a little tract, “Through the Bible in a Year!” which lists the books in a chronological arrangement. Other years I’ve read in the order in which the books occur in the Bible. I’ve used a variety of different translations including the New International Version, the King James Version and The Message.

However, this year I decided to try reading my Bible in an unstructured way; just reading it from where it fell open. What I found was that I wasn’t reading it every day. I didn’t have the external motivator.

I’ve learned that in order to help me get in the Word every day, I need a more structured approach. I am now reading, “The One Year Bible” — the entire New Living Translation arranged in 365 daily readings.

If you struggle with reading your Bible, I would recommend picking up a daily reading Bible.
